Laptop Stand

High School Project - laser-cut stand that frees up desk space for college students.

Premise

This laptop stand was created to help college students conserve space. It frees up desk space for other items and gives the user a platform to work on. It also collapses for storage when it is not in use, which saves room in a dorm.

Design

The stand was designed entirely in SolidWorks and fits most laptops. The fabrication methods available to me meant following a design-for-manufacturing workflow, so I made drawing files for sheets of wood to be laser cut and designed every piece to fit together.

Manufacturing

The stand was made by laser cutting sheets of plywood, then gluing and nailing the pieces together. A higher-fidelity model would use a different manufacturing method, but the scope of this class only called for a prototype.
